After its December 6 Season 3 premiere and a handful of Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, it was more than safe to say the show was being renewed for a fourth season.
And the Season 4 greenlight came only a few days after the show received two new Golden Globe nominations: Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy, and best actress for Rachel Brosnahan.
“We were thrilled to hear that for the fourth time, we do not have to pack up and vacate the premises,” said creator, showrunner and exec producer Amy Sherman-Palladino and exec producer Daniel Palladino (who happens to be her husband, too). “We’d like to thank Amazon for all their faith and support, their partnership and enthusiasm, and for letting us hang with our favorite people, the cast and crew of Maisel, for a little while longer.”
“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has been a worldwide phenomenon, and Season 3 has been no exception, with the series’ most-watched opening weekend ever. We’re so happy that our Prime Video customers will get to see Midge’s story continue in Season 4,” said Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios. “Amy and Dan have created such funny, charming, relatable characters, all with their inimitable wit and eye for detail, and our customers around the world will be delighted to have another season in the world of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”
Season 3 sent Midge (Brosnahan) and her agent Susie (Alex Borstein) on tour with Shy (Leroy McClain) where they discover a luxurious yet humbling way of life while learning showbiz they won’t forget. Joel (Michael Zegen) finds it hard to help Midge and pursue his dreams at the same time, and Rose (Marin Hinkle) also discovers her talents.
The show has won 16 Emmys, including best comedy series, three Golden Globes, including best comedy series, too, and five Critics’ Choice Awards.
Here’s hoping we know some more about Season 4 production soon. Meanwhile, you can watch ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ Season 3 on Amazon Prime Video.
