Netflix is a really big fan of these throwback shows and remaking them of some sort, and so are we!
When I was a kid, I was a big fan of this show. Spending afternoons with an untimely cereal on the sofa, that was my jam. The show was Shaun the Sheep, and it’s coming to Netflix for a movie.
The film is produced by Aardman Animations. They were responsible for Chicken Run, Wallace and Gromit and the upcoming Netflix stop-motion short film Robin Robin. Inspired by Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep saw five seasons of mainstream media and a few TV specials here and there. Basically, they have the credentials to revive our childhoods.
The movie is directed by Richard Phelan and Will Becher alongside writers Mark Burton and Jon Brown. A round of applause for these childhood heroes!
Shaun the Sheep already has a movie in 2015, and Farmageddon will be the follow-up for 2020. More specifically, Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon is currently scheduled to release on Netflix on Valentine’s Day, 14th of February, 2020.
Also, Farmageddon will be showing in selected theaters in the United States, too!
Now, maybe you’re asking in whose name is it that didn’t allow Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon to premier in other countries besides the United States?
The simple answer is: license. Netflix only got the license to stream the movie in the United States and Latin America SO FAR. So better hold on and trust Netflix if you’re not from America.
Good news, though! Some countries outside of the United States and Latin America will be able to see the movies in selected cinemas. But as you know, Netflix makes a move on the streaming rights as soon as they become available so maybe do things on your spare time while waiting for, I’d say, around the end of 2020.
