After HBO Max’s announcement of most of its original shows, it seems there was a significant missing piece: Comedies.
But after ordering pilots for ‘Gumshoe’ and a yet-unnamed Quinta Brunson-Michelle Nader sitcom, it seems the streamer is looking to fill the space.
Now, we know that ‘Gumshoe’ has added five members to its cast, that would be regulars if the show receives a full order.
Sonya Cassidy, Miles J. Harvey, Carla Jiménez, Max Casella, and Phillipa Soo are the five actors cast. Cassidy and Harvey will play the lead roles. The show follows Cassie, played by Cassidy, a young, idealistic cop, and Eamon, a creepy teenager played by Harvey, as they join forces to solve a murder case.
Harvey played a recurring role on the second season of Netflix’s ‘American Vandal,’ and will soon star in ‘SuperCool.’ Cassidy recently starred in ‘Lodge 49’ at AMC. She’s also played varied TV roles in shows such as ‘The Great Fire,’ Vera,’ and ‘Olympus.’
Jimenez will play Henrietta, a strange physician who collects clown dolls. She most recently starred in Fox’s ‘The Mick.’ Casella will portray Dennis Laramie, a detective. He has recently appeared on Amazon Prime Video’s ‘The Marvelous Ms. Maisel,’ and in ‘Ray Donovan’. Last but not least, Soo will play Liz Chen, another detective. She was last seen in CBS’s ‘The Code.’
Aaron Brownstein and Simon Ganz co-write, co-executive produce, and co-serve as showrunners of the show. Randall Einhorn will also executive produce and direct the pilot. Conan O’Brien, David Kissinger, Jeff Ross, and Larry Sullivan will join Brownstein, Ganz, and Einhorn as executive producers.
