Spoilers WILL be seen in this article. Please proceed with caution, my friends.
You has been (not a grammar mistake, I promise) one of the bright spots for Netflix while the decade was coming to an end. The series, being as good as it is, has a large following and we all know what followers are capable of––theories, theories, theories.
And you know what fans love the most? It’s when members of the cast verify whether these theories are true or at the very least, relevant. Penn Badgley, the coveted star of You, has put an X-mark on one of the theories. The theory revolved around the final episode of the series’ second season, where Joe Goldberg, Badgley’s character, was spying on a woman through a crack in his fence in the final episode. Some thought it was his mother but thankfully, it’s not.
Season two’s ending was a fun and horrific ride at the same time, honestly, with Joe Goldberg meeting his girlfriend Love Quinn, played by Victoria Pedretti. Long story short, Love Quinn was pregnant with the spawn of hell. As Joe walks through the garden, he was stalking his neighbour while she was sunbathing. I feel bad for that neighbour––she doesn’t know she’s about 20 meters close to two psychos.
In the scene, Joe narrates: “This is just the beginning, because this is where I had to be. Exactly where I had to be to meet you. There you were with your books and your sunshine. So close, but worlds away. I will figure out a way: a way to get to you. See you soon, neighbour.” Eek. Now that’s just creepy.
“She’s definitely not his mom. I can say that,” from the mouth of the man himself, Mr. Badgley. Although this isn’t the only theory scoured over the internet; some speculate Beck, played by Elizabeth Lail, being back from the dead or even Candace, played by Ambyr Childers.
While there are many things we’re excited for, especially season 3, this is what Badgley has to say about the next season.
‘I literally know nothing about the third season,’ he told Entertainment Tonight.
